چکیده

This paper is the second part of a two-part paper on Electromagnetic (EM) Nonreciprocity (NR). Part I has given a general definition of NR, pointed out that linear NR is a stronger form of NR than nonlinear (NL) NR, explained EM Time-Reversal (TR) Symmetry (TRS) Breaking (TRS-B), described linear Time-Invariant (TI) NR media, generalized the Lorentz reciprocity theorem for NR, and provided a physical interpretation of the resulting Onsager-Casimir relations [1]. This part first clarifies the TR paradox in lossy and open systems, and points out the TR-similarity between open and lossy systems. Next, it proposes an extended version of the S-parameters to fully or partly model all NR systems. Then, it presents the fundamentals of linear-TI (LTI) NR, linear Time-Variant (LTV) Space-Time (ST) modulated NR and NL NR systems. Finally, it removes typical confusions between asymmetric and NR systems.

Enhancement of spin-wave nonreciprocity in magnonic crystals via synthetic antiferromagnetic coupling

Spin-wave nonreciprocity arising from dipole-dipole interaction is insignificant for magnon wavelengths in the sub-100 nm range. Our micromagnetic simulations reveal that for the nanoscale magnonic crystals studied, such nonreciprocity can be greatly enhanced via synthetic antiferromagnetic coupling. The nonreciprocity is manifested as highly asymmetric magnon dispersion curves of the magnonic ...

Giant nonreciprocal emission of spin waves in Ta/Py bilayers

Spin waves are propagating disturbances in the magnetization of magnetic materials. One of their interesting properties is nonreciprocity, exhibiting that their amplitude depends on the magnetization direction. Nonreciprocity in spin waves is of great interest in both fundamental science and applications because it offers an extra knob to control the flow of waves for the technological fields o...

Enhancement of the Sagnac effect due to nonlinearly induced nonreciprocity.

We propose a novel way to enhance the Sagnac effect by using a nonlinear ring interferometer. Specifically, we take advantage of the nonlinearly induced nonreciprocity of counterpropagating waves caused by the formation of an index grating in the nonlinear medium.

Nonlinear magneto-optical Bragg gratings.

In magneto-optical gratings the magnetic dipolar coupling superimposed on the electric dipolar one introduces nonreciprocity and spectral discrimination between circular polarization states, measured by a Zeeman-like splitting of the photonic Bragg resonances. In a nonlinear regime the degree of nonreciprocity is modified by the photoinduced interplay of these splittings and their Stark-like sh...

Light-induced nonreciprocity, field invariants, and nonlinear eigenpolarizations.

It is shown that the magnitude of nonlinear nonreciprocity, self-induced by counterpropagating laser beams, is related to the anisotropic properties of the nonlinear third-order susceptibility (resulting in the light-induced birefringence and gyrotropy) and therefore is sensitive to the mutual arrangement of polarization of both of the beams. The invariants of nonlinear wave equations suggest a...
